How does Estratest Work
Estratest is a combination drug that contains esterified
estrogen and methyltestosterone, an androgen. Women
experiencing their menopause use it to alleviate their
menopause-related symptoms, mostly moderate to severe
vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes). Mostly such users have not
received relief from their symptoms from estrogen-only. As
the body stops producing estrogen when menopause sets in,
Estratest replaces some of this estrogen. Estratest carries
testosterone as well which increases bone density and is
effective in restoring a lagging libido and fighting against
hot flashes.
Emotional Maladjustment and Surgery
Women who have had the surgical removal of ovaries
especially need replacement for the tiny amount of
testosterone produced by the ovaries. Thus Estratest
fulfills this need. It is important to be informed that
testosterone has been known to cause fluid retention and
heart failure in people with heart, liver, or kidney
disease. The amount of Estratest taken will thus demand
great care. Also, Estratest is not effectual in relieving
the emotional symptoms such as depression, when physical
symptoms are absent.
Role of Estratest in Cancer, Liver Disorders, and Blood
Sugar Levels
Long-term estrogen replacement therapy exposes one to a high
risk of endometrial cancer and may increase the risk of
breast cancer. The latter is particularly more probable in
women with a family history of breast cancer. Estratest is
also known to heighten blood sugar level and also blood
pressure. Hence patients with diabetes or hypertension
should consult their doctor before taking the drug. Finally,
estrogen and testosterone are both potential cause of liver
problems, including benign tumors, cancers, and hepatitis.
People with any kinds of liver problems should not use
Estratest without physician’s approval
